The board and the cards

  • Two players share a 3×5 board: 15 tiles, columns A–E and rows 1–3. Row 1 is nearest player A.
  • Each player holds 5 cards from one shared 51-card deck: 46 characters and 5 effect cards. Each turn you play exactly one card, then draw back to 5.

Characters and captures

A character has four side values, 1–7: top, right, bottom and left, read from the owner’s side.
  1. Place it on any empty tile.
  2. It attacks each orthogonal neighbour that faces the opponent and isn’t frozen.
  3. If your side touching that card is greater than or equal to its side touching you, the card flips to you. Ties go to the attacker.
Captures happen only when a card is placed. There are no chains.

Winning

A card belongs to the player it faces, so the board is the score. The game ends the moment all 15 tiles are full. The side with more cards wins; with 15 tiles there are no draws.

Effect cards

There’s one copy of each, and each can only be played when it can do something.

Mutators

Mutators is the default ruleset; classic turns them off.
  • Chess tiles. There are two per game: knight, bishop, rook or queen. Place a card on one and you may hop it like that piece to an empty tile, where it attacks again (hop→E3, or hop: stay).
  • Power tiles. Two new ones appear each turn, each with a colour and +1 or +2. A card of that colour standing on one attacks with every side boosted.
  • Overrun zones. These are B2, C2 and D2. When your card there is surrounded on all four sides, you may play a card from your hand on top of it (Pengu!C2).
